Prior to opening Discovery Days Preschool, I earned a degree in Early Childhood Education and had 14 years experience teaching preschool. After an eight year "break" to stay at home full time with my two daughters, I was ready to get back to teaching. Opening this preschool has allowed me to pursue my passion for teaching and maintain a schedule that works for my family. I believe that a quality preschool program can not only enhance a child's development, but also instill a love of learning that can last a lifetime.
Is my T/TH teaching partner and the term "Bigger than Life" is probably an understatement. Her vivacious spirit and unconditionally accepting heart make her an amazing teacher. Suzanne is the mother of two and after an initial career in the business world, returned to school to train as a preschool teacher. She has worked in the play center at the Broadstone Racquet Club for 18 years, Marble Valley Preschool for 3 1/2 years and has been with me since my first year.
After growing up in Southern California, Ms Marla attended Snow College and then Utah State University majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Child Development . In 1976 she moved to EDH where she raised 4 children. with her husband Gary Kelley and currently has 6 grandchildren.
After being involved in the EDH parent Co-Op preschool for 6 years, and doing daycare in her home for 8 years, she took a job at Teddy Bear Inn preschool/daycare here in EDH where she worked for 25 years. During that time she continued taking classes at FLC and EDC and attending weekend seminars offered through EDAEYC as well as attending CAEYC conferences each year. Ms. Marla is bringing with her over 30 years of experience working with preschoolers and was excited to join the Discovery Days preschool family.
